Recent Starlink Install — Lake Norman, NC
Starlink Professional installation with Dual WAN UniFi Ubiquiti router. Sound Advice installed this Starlink
When a client's rural stretch near Lake Norman couldn't get reliable cable or fiber, Sound Advice handled a full Starlink Residential install from mount to Wi-Fi handoff.
The install:
- Ran a clear obstruction scan first — found the optimal roof mount point with zero tree/roofline interference, avoiding the common mistake of ground-mounting where foliage eventually blocks the dish
- Mounted the dish on a heavy-duty roof pipe mount (not the flimsy stock tripod) for wind stability and a cleaner look from the ground
- Routed the cable through the attic and down an interior wall chase — no exposed cable running along siding
- Grounded the mount properly to code, tied into the home's existing grounding system
- Placed the Starlink router centrally, then extended coverage with a mesh network so the whole house — including the detached garage — gets full signal
- Cable-managed and labeled everything at the demarc point for easy future service
Result:
150+ Mbps down in a spot where the client previously had no viable broadband option. Dish is invisible from the street, fully weatherproofed, and the whole system was up and speed-tested before we left.
That's the Sound Advice difference — anybody can zip-tie a dish to a tripod in the yard. We treat Starlink installs like any other integration: clean routing, proper grounding, and whole-home coverage, not just a dish that "works."
